The Concert Chamber Percussion Ensemble Competition provides a competitive avenue for collegiate and high school-level small percussion ensembles.

Registration Opens May 1, 2025

Please Note: Initial registration requires only the Primary Contact’s information and active membership. A complete ensemble roster will be due with the Final Payment.

The Process

Ensembles are divided into High School and University/College divisions, with up to 30 University/College ensembles performing on Thursday, Nov. 13, and up to 20 High School ensembles performing on Friday, Nov. 14.

Competition Details

PAS Membership

All ensemble members must be current individual members of the Percussive Arts Society, or part of an active Group Membership, through November 30, 2025. It is the Director’s responsibility to verify all ensemble participants are active PAS Members prior to submitting the roster. Participating students can join PAS, or renew their membership, HERE.

DIRECTORS

  • Directors must be a current PAS individual member, or the director of a school Group Membership, through November 30, 2025.

A $100 registration fee must accompany each ensemble entry. This fee guarantees your ensemble’s spot in the competition.

Please choose from one of the following options for your ensemble participants to attend PASIC:

  • Option 1 – $50/student/director: includes a Single-day Badge for the day of your competition, which students and the director can use to attend all PASIC activities for that specific day (University/College on Thursday, Nov. 13 and High School on Friday, Nov. 14).
  • Option 2 – $100/student/director: includes a Four-day Badge, which students and the director can use to attend all PASIC activities for the duration of PASIC (Nov. 12–15, 2025).

The balance of the ensemble registration fee is due October 1, 2025.

The $100 registration fee due with application is non-refundable. A service charge of $25 will be charged for any returned checks.

If your group is waitlisted and ends up not being selected, PAS will provide a refund.

Any high school or university/college ensemble may enter. All ensemble members must be full-time students at the high school or university/college they are representing. High School ensembles who have Jr. High / Middle School students participating in the ensemble will need to be given special consideration to participate. Please contact the PAS offices at (317) 974-4488 for details.

  • Entries must include a completed initial Registration Form and $100 payment. Entries will be accepted in the order they are submitted online. If multiple applications are submitted on the same day, performance order will be determined by a random draw at the PAS office.
  • Space is limited to one ensemble per school until September 2, 2025. After this date, a school may apply for additional ensembles to compete, if space is available. A category must have at least two ensembles to be considered a competition. If there is only one ensemble in a given category, that group may perform in exhibition for comments only.
  • All registration forms and documentation must be received by the Percussive Arts Society on or before October 1, 2025. The complete schedule for the Concert Chamber Percussion Ensemble Competition, as well as all logistical information, will be emailed directly to directors and posted on the PASIC website by the end of October.
  • 30 University/College and 20 High School Ensembles. Check back on this page after registration opens for updates on the remaining number of performance spots.
  • If registration fills, a waitlist will become available for the next 5 ensembles in each category. If your ensemble is not able to compete, you will be informed by October 1st, and your $100 registration fee will be refunded.
  • Ensembles may perform more than one piece in their performance slot.
  • Each piece must have no less than 3 and no more than 8 players. This competition EXCLUDES contemporary marching percussion instrument ensembles, such as cymbal, bass drum, marching snare, and multi-tenor ensembles.
  • The use of electronics is allowed. PAS will provide speakers for the competition room, should the ensemble choose to use them. The ensemble is responsible for playback device(s) (computer, interface, patch cables, etc.), set up, and testing of playback device(s) in the allotted set-up time. Model specific information of the speakers will be available to the ensemble in the ensemble’s PASIC competition packet.
  • PAS and the Percussion Ensemble committee will communicate with competing groups to minimize the number of large instruments (i.e. keyboards, timpani) that ensembles will have to travel with. As you choose your competition repertoire, please be mindful of the equipment you will have to bring or acquire, as we make no guarantees on the quantity or brand of instruments that may be provided.
  • If you are planning to travel with your own large instruments, PAS would be grateful for your consideration in allowing other ensembles to utilize your equipment outside of your performance needs.

In partnership with MCI, there will be a block of hotels in downtown Indianapolis offering discounted rates for PASIC exhibitors and attendees. These rates will ONLY be found through a link provided by MCI, which will be shared with exhibitors here, and through email communication.
